Embracing their mission of creating and promoting contemporary variety, Sticky Buns hosts Veveriste -New York City’s Balkan Brass Band for a spirited evening of provocative burlesque to tease your brain and vivacious Brass Band music that will get your body dancing.

Veveritse – Brooklyn’s own Balkan Brass Band – play percussive and dynamic Balkan Brass music with an masterful grasp of Romany song and ornamentation. Veveritse’s restless, creative energy propels their arrangements and repertoire into unexpected sonic spaces. The band’s 11 members span many established brass bands including the Zlatne Uste Balkan Brass Band, Frank London’s Klezmer Brass Allstars, Romashka, Raya Brass Band, Stagger Back Brass Band, Ansamble Mastika and The Panorama Brass Band of New Orleans. Stalwarts of the brass band scene, Veveritse has played at Zlatne Uste’s Golden Festival – NYC’s largest Balkan music event, the Festival of New Trumpet Music, the West Village Halloween Parade and Boston’s HONK! Festival. They grace the stages of NYC’s Mehenata/Bulgarian Bar, Barbes, Zebulon and Jalopy Theatre among other venues.

Sticky Buns Burlesque is a Baltimore/ D.C. based troupe dedicated to pushing boundaries in both the art form of burlesque and our society at large. We produce original, high caliber shows that challenging conventions with sexy, comedic commentary. They take their audiences on journeys of laughter, thought, bizarre freakishness, and joy.

Deanna Danger is known as “the starlet from Virginia.” Her sometimes dangerous, always crowd-pleasing performances have graced stages from her home, Richmond, Virginia, up and down the east coast. Deanna is also a burlesque instructor, teaching weekly classes and workshops in Richmond, VA. She will be teaching Boom Boom Basics burlesque classes at Charm City Movement Arts in Baltimore the afternoon of Saturday, March 3rd. ROLES & EXPECTATIONS
Core Members (paid): Core members are expected to attend weekly meetings, use their image and stage name in promotional materials, participate in the writing, choreographing, staging, building, rehearsing, producing, promoting, and performing in burlesque shows. Core members may not concurrently be part of any other similar performance troupe, but are encouraged to perform in addition to Sticky Buns Burlesque. The average time commitment expected per week is approximately 15 hours.

Guest Performers (paid): Guest performers are applying to be featured guests in Sticky Buns Burlesque revue shows. They should be willing to use their image and stage name in promotional materials and assist in the promotion of the shows, in addition to performing. They may be called upon to rehearse with the troupe, but are not expected to attend meetings. Guest creators for scripted shows will be auditioned by the complete troupe for the specific show with guidelines to be outlined later.

Stage Managers (paid): Stage managers are expected to set and clear stage props and costumes for revue & scripted shows. They are expected to be costumed in a manner befitting the theme of the show, or in an otherwise glamorous costume. No street clothes or simple lingerie. They may be asked to perform simple roles in occasional group routines.
